Food Friday-Mickey Waffles

Isn’t everyone obsessed with breakfast and brunch these days? While I do enjoy a nice brunch date with friends once in a while, most of the time, I’d rather just eat some fruit for breakfast. However, at Disney, my mindset always changes because of one food item: the glorious MICKEY WAFFLE. I have to say waffles and pancakes are my favorite breakfast foods out of the bunch, but these are extra special waffles…and I will tell you why:

1.) The Taste

The taste is sweet, but not sickeningly sweet. In fact, it has such a nice classic Belgian flavor that I don’t even need syrup. The flavor of the added bananas foster sauce I had last time with my waffle (at Port Orleans Riverside-not every resort/park’s waffles toppings are the same) is so good, though! I always pour a little on. Mickey Waffles honestly taste like home to me; they’re a classic Disney favorite for breakfast.

2.) The Consistency

Whenever anything feels more like cake and less like waffle, that’s when I know we have a winning Belgian waffle. It is thick, but still fluffy. Because of this, they fill me up for hours, especially when paired with some bacon/sausage/fruit. I love the bigger Mickey Waffles versus the mini ones, because the consistency is richer and heartier. The small ones that come with kids meals or are at buffets feel much airier and lighter to me.

3.) The Nostalgia

These little beauties are so well-known around Disney that they have their own cult following. People make Mickey Waffle themed Mickey ears, headbands, bows, and even earrings. I even own a Mickey scented air freshener! Needless to say, these waffles in the shape of our favorite mouse are a Disney Parks favorite.
